A ZYN pouch lasts about 20 to 60 minutes. Here's what changes that, and how to tell when it's spent.
A ZYN pouch lasts about 20 to 60 minutes, with most of the flavour and nicotine released in the first 15 to 20 minutes. After that it tapers off quickly.
What actually determines how long it lasts
Three things, in roughly this order of importance:
- Your saliva. Pouches release nicotine as they moisten. Eat, drink or talk a lot and it releases faster โ and finishes sooner.
- The strength. A 11mg or 13.5mg pouch has more nicotine to give, so the satisfying part lasts longer than a 3mg pouch.
- Your tolerance. A regular nicotine user will stop noticing a light pouch well before it's actually spent.
How to tell when it's done
The tingle under your lip fades and the flavour goes flat. That's the signal โ there's no benefit to leaving a spent pouch in, and doing so is the most common cause of gum irritation. Drop it in the compartment in the can's lid.
Making a pouch last longer
- Leave it alone. Moving it around with your tongue speeds up release.
- Don't drink hot liquids while it's in โ heat accelerates it.
- If pouches consistently run out too fast, the fix is usually a higher strength rather than a longer session. See our guide to ZYN strengths.
How long does a can last?
That depends entirely on how many you use a day โ see how often you can use ZYN for a realistic daily range.
