On a draw-activated pod device, a flashing red light is almost always one of four things โ and low battery is by far the most common. The others are a pod that isn't seated properly, a puff held too long, or a coil the device can't read.

1. The battery is flat or nearly flat
The usual culprit. Most pod devices flash red rather than simply dying, so you get a warning rather than a surprise.
What to do: charge it over USB-C for 30โ60 minutes and try again. If the light behaves normally while charging, that was it. Charge before it fully drains in future โ repeated deep discharges shorten a small battery's life.
2. The pod isn't making contact
If the light flashes the moment you draw and there's no vapour, the device probably can't read the coil. That's usually a seating or contact problem, not a broken device.
What to do: pull the pod out, wipe the metal contacts on both the pod and the battery with a dry cotton bud, and click it back in firmly. Condensation collects there and interrupts the circuit โ it's the single most common false alarm.
3. You held the draw too long
Nearly every pod device has a cut-off, typically around 8 to 10 seconds, that stops the coil firing indefinitely. Hit it and you get a flash and nothing else. This is a safety feature working correctly.
What to do: take shorter draws. Nothing is wrong with the device.
4. The coil has failed or is out of range
If it flashes on every draw with a fully charged battery and clean contacts, the coil is the likely cause โ either worn out or reading a resistance the device rejects.
What to do: fit a fresh pod or coil. For the Pro II and Pro LITE that's a refillable pod 2-pack or a coil 2-pack. If a known-good pod fixes it, the old one was the fault.
The order to try things
- Charge it. Solves most cases.
- Reseat the pod and wipe the contacts dry.
- Take a shorter draw to rule out the cut-off.
- Swap in a fresh pod or coil.
- Still flashing on a charged device with a new pod? That's a device fault โ get in touch.
About specific blink counts
You'll see people online reading meaning into an exact number of flashes โ three blinks means this, five means that. Those patterns are real on some hardware, but they are model-specific and manufacturers rarely publish them.
