What a vape costs in South Africa depends far more on how often you vape than on what you spend up front. Here are the three price tiers and how to work out which one you actually belong in.
The three price tiers
Vape pricing in South Africa sorts into three bands, and which band you belong in depends far more on how often you vape than on what you can afford up front.
Entry: a small disposable
The cheapest thing to buy and the most expensive way to vape long term. You pay for a battery and a coil every single time. Best used to find out which flavours you like before committing — see every disposable we sell.
Middle: a large disposable or a prefilled pod system
More liquid per unit, so the cost per millilitre drops. A prefilled pod system like the AirsPops XL or M.USE costs more on day one because you buy a battery, then less thereafter because you keep it.
Lowest running cost: a refillable pod system
The highest starting price and by far the cheapest to run. A device like the Pro LITE or Pro II, plus 30ml bottles of e-liquid, works out dramatically cheaper per ml than any disposable. You replace an occasional coil and nothing else.
Compare by millilitre, not by sticker price
This is the single most useful habit when comparing vapes. A device holding 15ml at twice the price of a 3ml one is cheaper per ml, not more expensive. Puff counts are a laboratory maximum and vary with how you draw; millilitres do not.
Work out roughly how much liquid you get through in a week, then compare options on that basis. For most daily vapers the refillable route pays back its higher starting price within weeks.
The costs people forget
- Coils on a refillable — one every week or two. Small, but real.

- Flavours you don't like. Buying one large device in an untested flavour is the most common expensive mistake. Test cheap, then commit.
